In the words of Spezia Calcio’s chairman, Charlie Stillitano: “Today’s decision was reached by mutual agreement between the parties for the good of the club and the team. When a club finds itself at the bottom of the table, responsibility is always shared and cannot be attributed to a single person. However, in football we know that the manager is often the first to pay the price for results, and now more than ever we felt it was essential to send out a strong and decisive signal, believing that a change in the team’s management could provide the necessary boost to face the upcoming challenges.
This change must represent a moment of heightened accountability for everyone: the club, the staff and, above all, the team. The current situation is very serious, but we still have six matches ahead of us, six decisive battles after the break, in which it will be vital to give our all, with pride, determination and a sense of belonging.
We still believe in the possibility of fighting for survival; we want to do everything possible to achieve it, and we must all honour the shirt and the history of our club to the very end as we approach our 120th anniversary.
We therefore extend a warm welcome back to manager Luca D’Angelo, along with our best wishes for the work that lies ahead.
What we need now is unity, courage and maximum commitment from everyone. We can still reach our target, and we must all believe in it together.
Forza Spezia!"
